What is a Workplace Skills Plan (WSP)?

A WSP is a formal document outlining an organization’s training and skills development plans for the year, submitted to the relevant SETA.

All registered employers with an annual payroll exceeding R500,000 must pay the Skills Development Levy (SDL) and submit a WSP and Annual Training Report (ATR).

Submissions are due annually, typically by 30 April, though exact dates vary by SETA

  • WSP → Outlines planned training for the upcoming year.

  • ATR → Reports on training delivered in the previous year.

  • Compliance with the Skills Development Act.

  • Access to mandatory and discretionary SETA grants.

  • Strategic workforce development and improved employee engagement.

Conduct a training needs analysis, align with scarce/critical skills, and submit via your SETA’s online portal.
